Gimli Outdoor Aquatic Centre Project that includes 6 lanes for swimming, zero-entry/accessible pool area, multiple waterslides and a children’s area that includes fun water features. The outdoor aquatic centre will be funded independently from the Recreation / Wellness Centre Project and will be utilizing Gas Tax Funds.
An outdoor aquatic centre provides a variety of recreational and wellness opportunities including swim lessons, public swim, fitness, group bookings and will create employment opportunities and help enhance our summer tourism.
Gimli and all lakeside communities will face challenges when it comes to the future health of Lake Winnipeg. We want to provide a safe place for families to swim and we also want to remain a Destination Center where Manitobans Play.
Fall, winter and spring indoor swim programming will still be offered at the Candace Derksen Memorial Pool at Camp Arnes.
