This week Juno winner and Grammy nominee Fresh I.E.   Event: Gimli Film Festival Description: July 23 - 28, 2010 The 10th annual Gimli Film Festival will be the highest profile and most exciting festival yet. Presenting over 80 Canadian and International film screenings in feature, short and documentary categories. Attending local and international filmmakers will add excitement to the program of exceptional, thought-provoking films. In addition to three indoor venues, film enthusiasts can view movies from the beach on a 35-foot screen that rises out of the water in one of the most scenic regions in Canada. At the forefront of the festival’s programming is the second year of the “Insight Series” (formally Vision Series). Proudly presented by the Burns Family Foundation, this series offers insight into the complete process of filmmaking, delving into the intricacies of production, cinematography, sound and design. A team of key people involved in the highlighted Canadian film will participate in discussions, interviews and Q & A sessions with all audiences and select mentoring sessions with emerging filmmakers. The Valhalla Best Film Award will be introduced at the 2010 festival; the jury will honour the Director of their favourite narrative or documentary feature-length film. Awards are also presented for the Canwest Best Manitoba Short Film, Best Short Film for Artistic Achievement, and Audience Favourites. Gimli welcomes local and international visitors alike, to 5 days of films, events and parties The combined ambiance of energized creativity and blissful relaxation on the shores of Lake Winnipeg make Gimli the place to be July 23-27 in 2010.
