Loni Beach: The Dorothy Goldberg Memorial Garbage Receptacle Decorating Event

  Come join in the fun and decorate your garbage can or garbage can enclosure in Loni Beach ! In honour of Dorothy Goldberg, who, for many years sponsored a decorating contest, this free event over the Islendingadagurinn Weekend boasts no winners, just pride, creativity and smiles !

  A Representative will be available at the Employment Manitoba Office. 62-2nd Avenue, 2nd floor (Heritage School Building) from 9am - 4 pm (Closed for Lunch 12 - 1:00 pm) every Monday & Tuesday, *except for holidays.

Starts at 1:00 p.m. at the Lake Winnipeg Visitors Center

Discover the history of Lake Winnipeg’s fishing boats. Learn about Gimli’s “Baby Spear” white fish boat and the “millennium York boat” buried beneath Bill’s Hill. An interactive activity will follow

These activities are designed for children between the ages of 8 and 12 years and are free to attend. Parents are welcome to attend each session. Call 642-7974 for more information.

Gimli's history dates back to 1875, when the Canadian Government granted land along Lake Winnipeg to Icelandic settlers.
